Sustainability labels and other initiatives in the textile sector

If you produce or trade textile products destined for the EU, you have to take into account that in the EU there are a lot of initiatives and sustainability labels to guarantee good labour conditions and the reduction of environmental impacts associated to the textile sector.

This document describes a few labels such as Oeko-Tex, EU Ecolabel for (home) textiles, TOXPROOF and RugMark for carpets which are widely applied in the EU and therefore can influence your export to the EU. Please note, that besides the introduction of these labels, there are other sustainability initiatives in the EU for the textile sector that may affect your business which are also described (e.g. Made-By, Fair Wear Foundation, Bluesign).
